Depeche cover the official Comic Relief single of 2009

The Saturdays have announced that they are providing the official single for this year’s Comic Relief. The girlband will follow in the footsteps of Girls Aloud, Sugababes and the Spice Girls by releasing the charity record this March. The song, a cover of Depeche Modes ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’, will be the main single for the 2009 campaign.

“I am so so excited that we have been asked to do the Comic Relief song,” Mollie King said.

“It’s such a big compliment and it’s so nice to be helping such a good cause. I’ve always dreamt of doing something like this from being a little girl! I remember watching the Spice Girls’ song ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ and now it’s us! I cannot wait!”

The single will be released on March 2 with Comic Relief taking place on March 13.

Yep, heard this on the radio yesterday afternoon.

Yet more massive exposure of the DM classic in the UK and for such a great cause.

Vince spinning in his grave? Hardly.

I thought at first that this version would be a disaster. But I heard it and can confidently say it is brilliant. Bright, fresh and electronic (staying true to the Mode’s roots), it’s a wonderful version. Well done, girls. You’ve done it justice. And Vince spinning in his grave? He’s not dead!

What next? Girls Aloud doing ‘Master and Servant’? I can’t wait for that one ;) :p
