‘The Posters Came From The Walls’ screening in Prague!

We’re extremely pleased to announce that we, in partnership with Mute, will be showing Mute’s documentary about Depeche Mode fans “The Posters Came From The Walls” at the ‘Sounds Of The Universe – Release Party’ at Retro Music Hall in Prague on April 18th! Directed by Jeremy Deller and Nicholas Abrahams, the documentary looks at a cultural phenomenon that stretches from Mexico to Russia, from 80s East Berlin to teenagers in California today.

The film has remained largely unseen since it was filmed in 2006, with only a few festival screenings in London, so this is a rare opportunity to watch it.

The screening will begin just shortly after opening the doors on the day of the event. Make sure you come early as this will be a one time only opportunity!

“I’m no one without listening to music”. The heartfelt statement of a fan, it’s the sort of thing you might hear anywhere in the world. But Andy is a Depeche Mode fan from Iran, where buying western music is illegal, and those who are caught face arrest or a beating by the police. Now living in Canada, we see Andy at a Depeche Mode gig, his first, in December 2005. He looks like he could pinch himself, but instead dials Iran, and holds his mobile up for his friends to hear. Andy is one of the Depeche Mode fans we meet in a new documentary that looks at a cultural phenomenon that stretches from Mexico to Russia, from 80s East Berlin to teenagers in California today.

In 2005, Depeche Mode – Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Andrew Fletcher – celebrated the 25th anniversary of their first album. In the years since they have sold over 73 million records. Depeche Mode is also a band with a dedicated fan base like no other, and it is the fans, past and present, who star in The Posters Came From The Walls.

Unless they did some major editing changes, this is one of the WORST 'documentaries' I've EVER seen. But I will admit SOME of it was interesting (like the guy from Iran and his story etc.). Just poorly put together from what I remember.

Well the doc is supposed to be weird, and weird I like! (mostly) :) Whether it is bad or not I can't judge, as I've not seen it yet. From what I was told and read about it, it looks intriguing enough for the fans to see and that's what is important here I think :)

I have seen the two fans in the pic to the lower left. I met the girl on myspace and sent her a FOD album at some point. The other dude was on you tube doing a dave spin. I never knew they knew each other lol
