Tour update – resumes June 8th in Leipzig!


Depeche Mode are pleased to announce they will restart their interrupted Tour Of The Universe in Leipzig, Germany on June 8th. On May 12th, lead singer Dave Gahan suffered a severe bout of gastroenteritis, leading to his hospitalization and the cancellation of the Athens concert. While in hospital, further medical tests revealed a low-grade malignant tumour in Dave’s bladder, which has since been successfully removed. At doctors’ orders Dave Gahan must take a break until June 8th, to ensure that he makes a full recovery. The Leipzig show on June 8th will be the first concert following Dave’s recovery.

Depeche Mode cancel six shows due to Dave taking ill


Depeche Mode have been forced to cancel six shows on their Sounds of the Universe tour due to further complications from singer Dave Gahan’s severe bout of gastroenteritis. Dave is currently undergoing further tests.

Istanbul cancelled *updated*


After canceling last nights show in Athens at the last minute, Purple Concerts, the band’s promoter in Turkey has announced that tomorrow’s show in Istanbul will also be canceled. A full Associated Press report, as well as the official statement from DepecheMode.com is posted below.

On Tuesday, May 12th, 2009, at 9pm (local time), the sudden feeling of physical discomfort that hit the singer of Depeche Mode, Dave Gahan, just a few minutes before going on stage for the band’s performance, resulted in his immediate transfer to the hospital and the postponement of the band’s show.


 

Athens gig cancelled at the last minute

Depeche kick off tour, add another date (no spoilers)


Depeche Mode kicked off their Tour Of The Universe earlier this week with a completely sold out warm up show at Luxembourg’s Rockhal. The show preceded to official tour kick-off in Tel Aviv at the Ramat Gan Stadium on Sunday, May 10th. The band also announced another show in Budapest, Hungary, this simt on January 11th, 2010.
