Unreleased MLG remix on Radio VRU

We’re a lucky bunch because Marc Vierheller has put together the latest playlist for Radio VRU in Berlin that features his previously unreleased remix for Martin L. Gore’s cover of Iggy Pop’s “Tiny Girls” from the Counterfeit 2 sessions. This remix is a web exclusive for this playlist and the rest of the show has an excellent and eclectic selection of tracks from artists like Burial, Thom York, Pantha Du Prince, Isan, Gil Scott Harron, and more! Well worth your time to give it a listen. We highly recommend. Track list and link to listen after the jump!

Compact Space “Nameless” reviewed *UPDATED*

Album opener and first single, Push Push, is a hauntingly gritty and atmospheric track that instantly makes one think of Eigner’s 2005 solo record, Recovery, on which Florian also sang on a couple of songs. It’s a great track, and the obvious single pick.

“It’s the end of our EMI period” says Martin

Vanity Fair has a Q&A with Martin Gore on their website, in which he answers a bunch of really interesting questions. The most interesting, we thought, was about their future label situation, about which Martin says: “It’s the end of our EMI period. With Sounds of the Universe we only signed for one album and a remix collection. After this we don’t have a label.”

New Motor single with Martin Gore premiere *UPDATED WITH AUDIO*

MOTOR wrote the bulk of their forthcoming album while supporting Depeche Mode on the stadium leg of Tour Of The Universe, co-writing one song with Martin Gore, who also provided lead vocal on the track. The product of this venture is premiering TONIGHT on the programme “6 MIX” on BBC Radio 6… show starts at 8pm UK time, and can be streamed online via www.bbc.co.uk.

Martin Gore to DJ Rockshop Academy Benefit

Martin has lined up another DJ gig for charity to take place on 7 May 2011 at The Savoy in Santa Barbara. This show will also feature special guest DJ Matty Matt as well as an intriguing performance by the Savoy house cabaret cirque show, Gypsy Suite. All proceeds will go to Rockshop Academy, a non-profit organization fostering the next generation of aspiring Santa Barbara musicians. More details after the jump!

Martin and Fletch added to Mute festival line-up

We’re very excited about the Mute Short Circuit Festival that takes place at the London Roundhouse between May 13th and 15th 2011. Yesterday afternoon Mute announced a series of new acts including: Richie Hawtin, Martin L Gore (DJ set), Moby (DJ set), Andy Fletcher (DJ set) plus Josh T Pearson playing versions of songs by Mute artists.

Mart & Vince to make a “dancey record”

In an interview with The Quietus, Vince Clarke has shared a little more insight on his collaboration with Martin Gore. Turns out they are working on more then just a track together and there might be, if it all works out, a full album or “dancey record” as Vince described it. Read on to see details!

Martin to appear on the upcoming Motor record

First came word Martin was featured on the recent Bomb The Bass record; then that he was working on new material with Vince Clarke and appearing alongside Alan Wilder at a Recoil event. Now comes word that Martin is going to be appearing alongside Gary Numan on the upcoming MOTOR record.

Martin to appear with Alan Wilder in Santa Ana! (no question mark)

Alan just emailed us to confirm that Martin is indeedilidoo appearing at the Recoil event in Santa Ana. Al writes: “We are very excited to bring you news of an exclusive one show-only guest DJ appearance at Recoil’s event at Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana, CA on 24th October. A certain Mr Martin L. Gore will be appearing to DJ at an aftershow DM/Recoil party. Martin has graciously agreed to appear just for this event to spin a collection of his favourite tracks. Many will be aware that Martin likes to DJ occasionally and reveal his enthusiasm for electronica.”

Martin to appear with Alan Wilder in Santa Ana?

Depeche Mode web-guy Daniel Barassi posted a teaser video on YouTube, suggesting (should we say “confirming”?) that Martin Gore will be appearing at one of the Recoil events scheduled for the US this fall. Specifically, the Santa Ana show on October 24. The YouTube video shows Alan, then Martin with their respective initials; then the coordinates of Santa Ana followed by the date. The video can be seen after the jump.
