New Depeche Mode album in “early 2013″

According to an interview in German music magazine, Sonic Seducer, a rough time table has already been set for the next Depeche Mode album. Martin Gore is quoted as saying the new album will be out “no later than early 2013″. As far as we’re aware this is the first time Martin’s mentioned a due date for the future Mode project. The schedule is in sync with earlier statements from Andrew Fletcher, who’s previously said the band was due in the studio in March 2012, and would release an album a year after that.

Fletch: “We’ll be back in the studio in a few months”

Well the headline pretty much says it all. The comment was made to a European newspaper during an interview to promote the just released “Tour Of The Universe: Live In Barcelona” DVD/Blu-Ray release.

Mode officially in the studio now! (UPDATED)

Or rather, it is now official that Ben Hillier is in the studio, and that Depeche Mode are with him. Go figure! Ben’s UK based management updated the producer’s bio with this tiny little line: [Ben's] now back in the production chair for Depeche Mode following their last collaboration on “Playing The Angel” album”.

Depeche Mode are back in the studio!

It’s finally happening! Work has begun! The new Depeche Mode album is now under way! Yes, you’re reading this, and it’s real! Yay!

Ben Hillier returns to helm another Mode album

According to sources close to the band, Ben Hillier will do a repeat stint as producer for Depeche Mode on their forthcoming album. Hillier, who’s CV includes names like U2, Smashing Pumpkins and more recently The Rascals and The Horrors, also helmed Mode’s most recent full length studio output, “Playing The Angel”.

Depeche Mode to start work on new album!

Depeche Mode have finally set a date for when work starts on their forthcoming album, which will hopefully see the light of day in a years time. The band had a meeting just before Easter to make a rough time line and listen to demos. The meeting took place in Santa Barbara, and was also attended by the yet-to-be-announced producer of the album.
