Germany music site, MusikWoche (www.mediabiz.de), revealed yesterday that the new double-a-side single from “Sounds Of The Universe” will be released in Germany on December 5th December 11th. “Fragile Tension/Hole To Feed” will feature a selection of mixes of both of these tracks, as well as “Perfect” and “Peace”, and will be released as an extended CD Maxi, digital download and 12″.
Depeche Mode and Mute confirmed the second “Sounds…” single pick today in a press release posted to the band’s official website. No mention of remixes or any other content specific information, so they are obviously saving the juicy bits for later.
BBC Radio 2 host Chris Evans presented the single mix of “Peace” today, as part of his radio show. The slightly revamped version was presented as Depeche Mode’s new single, suggesting that the second “Sounds…” single might indeed hit radios and clubs very soon. The presentation (and track) can be heard via BBC’s iPlayer if you’re in the UK. Folks outside the UK will like have to wait a bit. The single is hitting store shelves June 15th.
Depeche Mode just finished playing their first public live performance in three years. The free show - part of which will be shown on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! - took place smack dab in the middle of Hollywood Blvd, and drew crowds exceeding 14.000 by some estimates. With “Sounds Of The Universe” hitting stores around Europe, french fans got an itsy bitsy teeny tiny exclusive bit of news with their CDs. EMI France plastered the future singles choices all over the CD case (click here to see it). So it now seems confirmed that “Peace” and “Hole To Feed” will join “Wrong” as the single picks for “Sounds Of The Universe”.
With the album finally hitting store shelves in those European markets blessed with Friday release dates, it’s time for HOME to take stock of this new album, and in particular the amazing box set that comes with it. Oh, and there’s plenty of eye candy in the form of exclusive photos of the finished product!!
I had to re-check my calendar as I was reading an article onPollstar.com today. They either travelled to the future, or know something we don’t, because they are reporting that, and I quote, “Earlier this year, Depeche Mode got its own Pass priced at $19. What did fans get for their money? More than 30 songs and videos, many of which had never before been released, plus the band’s new album, Sounds of the Universe”.
